Mana-The Spirit Of Polynesia

Mana-The Spirit Of Polynesia

On Friday Bernard Mangakahia better known as
Mana-the Spirit of Polynesia came to Karoro School and
performed cultural dances.

He told us stories about his kids like when one of his kid
was young he breakdance on the street and he got money
for it and he wanted to do it more and they got lots of money
over a year. He did breathtaking dances like the hoop dance.
He put hoops on his arms and made it like he was an eagle.
It took him 10 years to learn the dance without falling over and
some native American Indians can do about 40 hoops. At
some point he did the moonwalk and he talked about the moko
and explained what the symbols meant.

Bernard did something with the poi and he called up a
group of people to do what he did. He said for two of the ugliest
peopleto come up and do the haka with him. He also
did sign language while a song was playing. Some words in the
song were, “Keep going forward, work hard, show resistance.

I liked the hoop dances and I would like Bernard to return with
a new show.
