Film 👏 Review👏

On thursday the 14th of november 2019, year 5,6,7 and 8 went to the Toki Pounamu Film Festival in the Regent Theatre located in Greymouth, New Zealand. There were a few films but one of my favorites was the Paroa School song because it was cachay and There was some good footage with the drone.

The Paroa School song was made by Paroa School at Paroa School, it was a song about Paroa School they made for the Toki Pounamu Film Festival, they took the footage using a drone and a camera. The editing was just switching the scenes.

It was mostly filmed on the ground but some of the film was in the sky looking down at paroa. The sound quality was good. There was no story line and music was clear.

The selectors didn't choose all of them because some were not appropriate for all ages. Maybe there could be more action packed films next year by putting more categories.

Overall I think that the Toki Pounamu Film Festival should continue and that it was fun watching all the films.

The Amazing Adventures of Super Stan

On Wednesday afternoon the 7th of August 2019 Term 3 The senior students of Karoro school were invited to Grey Main to go see a dress rehearsal of musical The Amazing Adventures Of Super Stan.

We went on the bus at 12:35 and we walked into the Gray Main hall and sat down on seats.

At the start of the play there was a scene where the Bogie man was fighting super Stan but is was just Stan daydreaming. Then DC came up and said “stop daydreaming” and then he stopped Stan stopped daydreaming.

The next scene was where the Candy King was at Proton Park. The Candy King seems okay but he is actually evil.  He gave people gobstoppers that hypnotised them (really dodgy) and Stan and his friends realised that the candy king is evil. 

Granny knows that Stan has super powers because his Grandma gave him one half when he was a baby so to get to his full potential. Stan hated injections but he gets injected with Formula 44 and gets the rest of his super powers. Granny gave Stan his Granddad's undies to fly.

Then Super Stan goes to the Candy King's palace and fights Curly and Wurly. After the fight Super Stan freezes Curly and Wurly and they get taken away. After that Super Stan fights the Candy King and he tells Super Stan that he is Super Stan’s granddad. Super Stan shrinks the Candy King and Granny takes the tiny Candy King away. 

I think that the play was good because there would be a pause and then they would change the scene and two people would go up on to the stage and say what place they are at so I rate it six out of ten. 

Jake Bailey

On Wednesday on the 31 of July 2019 Jake Bailey an ex-Christchurch Boys' High School senior monitor and cancer survivor came to karoro school and talked to us In the Karoro school library. He talked to us about life skills that he learnt after surviving cancer and He talked about how he got through cancer. 

he came to talk to us about what it is like to have cancer and what skills we need to get through the bad things. There was one part where he asked some people about who their role  role models where. I thought that it is really inspiring how stood up and he talked about how it was like when he got cancer and the things he learned, He also said the doctors have to do three tests. Some people didn't want to hear what he said about the tests

My leaders are mini Keanu Reeves, Vladimir Putin and Obama.
